Heard | Sisters, Myra
Holmes and Jacquie Heard started Star
Partners Security Services, Inc. in 2002. With two
decades worth of experience including working for the
Department of Defense and various private firms, they
are well equipped to provide the highest level of armed
and unarmed security services for offices and events.
Holmes and Heard were first introduced to Renaissance
through participating in workshops at the Bayview
Business Resource Center on 3rd Street. They are
currently tenants of the 5th Street Business Assistance
Center, and enrolled in the Business Planning Class.
“Renaissance has given us the business structure that we
did not have, and helped us to hone in on our
competitive edge. We feel completely supported by the
Renaissance staff and see ourselves working with the
Center throughout the life of our business,” says
Holmes.
Star Partners specializes in large
outdoor events and has provided security for the U. S.
Open golf tournament, and the NBA
playoffs.

- As of 2004, there are an estimated 414,472 firms
owned by African American women in the U.S. employing
nearly 254,00 people and generating $19.5 billion in
sales.
- Between 1997 and 2004, the number of African
American women-owned firms increased by 33%.
- Over one quarter (29%) of minority women-owned
firms are owned by African Americans.
- 6% of all privately-held, majority-owned firms in
the U.S. are owned by African American women.
- California is among the ten states with the
greatest number of African American women-owned
firms.
