Renona Wesley
Alluring Styles

4614 3rd Street, San Francisco
415-648-6200

Renona WesleyTwo years before opening her beauty salon, Alluring Styles, Renona Wesley made sure she was fully prepared for business ownership. She worked with Renaissance's Bayview Business Resource Center to build business skills and research her target market. She worked as a contract hair stylist to polish her skills and then enrolled in a 14-week, 80-hour business planning class at the Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center in 2001.

Through this training, she learned the basics of what makes a successful business and finished a business plan complete with financials and a marketing plan. She also took multiple technology courses in business writing, computer skills, and marketing at The Bayview Center and took part in Bayview's Small Business Incubator where she received supported office space. Renaissance has also counseled her through lease negotiations.

In 2003, with two years of business training behind her, Renona opened Alluring Styles with money she had saved. Renona has always dreamed of owning her own business and today that dream has become a reality. As she progresses into her second year as a business owner, she has plans to open a hair care academy where aspiring hair stylists and artists can be trained and helped in their career goals. Long term, Renona hopes to have a chain of salons. "I am doing what I love, and at my own pace and style." That, along with her plans to help other aspiring hair stylists, is Renona's definition of success.
