The Principal
Source to Target's Principal and Lead Translator is Marilyn Luong, who was part of a three year onsite incubation program at the Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center. At Renaissance, Marilyn enrolled in a business planning class and met regularly with a designated business consultant. From her training, she developed a business plan that focused on translation projects where clients demand rigorous standards, including high stakes legal cases and other cases where expert linguist services are required.
Marilyn is uniquely qualified to provide high quality complex language services. From when she started school, she was formally schooled in both English and Chinese. Marilyn holds a MA in Chinese Translation and Interpretation from the Monterey Institute of International Studies, renown as one of the world's top Chinese translations Master's program. In the state of California, there are currently only 25 Court - certified Cantonese interpreters, and only 53 Court -certified Mandarin interpreters. Marilyn is Court - certified in both Cantonese and in Mandarin. Furthermore, she is Cantonese and Mandarin certified by the United States Department of State, for whom she has interpreted over one hundred meetings between Chinese and American attorneys. For over a decade now, Marilyn has helped bridge the language gap in a settings where language gaps exist, including business, medical, community, conference, and legal. More impressive than Marilyn's list of credentials is Marilyn's reputation for bringing the standards of the profession to higher levels. She has extensively researched how translation quality affects clients' cases, and trains translators and interpreters in a number of different schools and programs.
