Contractors’ Program Overview
The Contractors' Program is offered at our Bayview location.
Renaissance Bayview has expanded its entrepreneur support programs to include local area contractors, and women in the trades. The program is constantly evolving to better meet the needs of our local area contractors.
As part of the program, started in Spring 2009, Renaissance Bayview has enhanced its curriculum to include a series of contractor’s workshops taught “in house” including:
- Estimating
- Bidding
- Blue Print Reading
-
Certification
To date, collectively, over 60 contractors have attended the workshops. Because the program is dynamic by design, we continue to add new relevant courses. Starting in April 2010 (every second Wednesday of each month to help our clients, from 10:00am to 12:00pm), we will offer a course on how to become a City vendor and 12B Compliant, which will be taught by the LBE certification coordinator of the Human Rights Commission.
As part of the program, we have also created a series of industry-specific business development workshops for Lennar Urban. To date, we have offered learning opportunities in:
- Certified Payroll
- Insurance and Bonding
- Estimating
- Scheduling
- Bidding Large-Scale Jobs
Different from workshops or other occasions in which prime contractors and subcontractors might come together and interact, the Mentor Protégé program was created specifically to help foster long-term relationships between the two groups. We are currently laying the groundwork for what promises to be a wonderfully comprehensive program.
-
We are in the process of putting together a suite of software to assist protégés with submitting competitive, well done bids.
-
We have purchased an account with eBidBoard. eBidboard contains a massive cross-agency database of project information and bid results including line item cost information. Leveraging the Internet, eBidboard offers unprecedented features of easily accessing this information, effectively collaborating between owners and prospective bidders, and efficiently researching historical information and bid results. As a result, eBidboard benefits everyone in the bidding process, (owners, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers), by saving substantial time and money, facilitating better bids and proposals, minimizing business risks, and increasing competitive awareness. We are in the process of being trained on how to use the EBidboard software. A training webinar has been established for the second week of April.
-
We have created a comprehensive protégé application to be completed by all interested subs.
-
We have reached out to the Carpenters Union and to a couple general contractors in the carpentry trade.
