Launch Your Own Business
This brief introduction to the collaborative learning process utilized by Renaissance. It is also an orientation to the services offered by Renaissance on the Mid-Peninsula. The class presents the challenges of entrepreneurship and several key factors of successful business owners as well as several useful tools to help participants assess their business ideas, their personal skills/assets and understand the risks and rewards of entrepreneurship. Starting A Business From Scratch
This three-session introductory course is required for those not already working for themselves prior to enrolling in Business Planning. Classes focus on what it takes to start and run a successful business. Topics covered include Business Readiness & Personal Finances, Market Research, Business Idea Feasibility. Fee $15 - $40 (Class rate based on income, verification required)
Start and Grow Smart
Based on the “One Page Business Plan” by Jim Horan and intended primarily for those already working for themselves, the objectives of this course include developing mission and vision statements and using those to craft strategies and action plans. All of this is accomplished in four 3-hour sessions, after which participants have a better understanding of their business models and a number of steps for starting or growing a business. Individual consulting sessions for business owners only. Fee $25 - $60 (Class rate based on income, verification required)
Business Prep
This nine 3-hour session class is primarily intended for pre-start clients. The course is an introduction to business basics and designed to help participants determine the viability of his/her business ideas. Participants learn the fundamentals of marketing, operations, and finance. Based on market analysis, operational plans, and financial projections, participants are provided to tools/templates to create basic business plans and can gauge the potential for success of their concepts. Fee $50 - $175 (Class rate based on income, verification required)
Participants who satisfactorily complete Business Prep recieve certificates of completion and are celebrated in the last class meeting.
Individualized consulting available for clients who are working for themselves and satisfactorily complete Business Prep or Start Smart and are implementing a business or action plan.
