Entrepreneurship Training Classes
Entrepreneurship classes are the key component of the Renaissance
program. Classes meet at the Renaissance Center at 275 Fifth Street
unless otherwise noted.

Start Your Own Business
This four-week class helps students recognize and develop the personal and business skills needed to start a business. It provides an introduction to management, marketing and finances, as well as an idea viability and personal readiness assessment. This class is offered six times per year.

Business Planning
This intensive, 14-week program focuses on helping students create a practical, effective business plan for their own businesses. The class addresses every aspect of starting and developing a small business including marketing, management, finance, and tax and recordkeeping. All assignments and class exercises pertain directly to the student's own business. The program includes two evenings of individual consultation, Excel classes, financial coaching, and a business plan review session. Graduates of this class should plan on launching their business three to six months after completing the class. This class is offered four times per year.

A well-developed business idea, and a firm commitment
to start or sustain an existing business. Work experience
or practical knowledge of the field is desired. |

Faculty
All Renaissance classes are taught by experienced small business
owners who are experts in their fields. Classes are highly interactive
and structured to include lectures, discussions and practical exercises.
Students receive individual consulting sessions, as well as valuable
referrals to outside resources.
Application Process
We Encourage Diversity. People of color, women, and very
low-income adult applicants are encouraged for all classes. Renaissance
attempts to provide classes that are balanced by race, sex, economic
status and business types.
Application Fee. A non-refundable application of $25 is required and will count towards your tuition if you are accepted into a training class.
Orientation Required. To familiarize themselves with Renaissance's programs, all applicants are required to attend a free, scheduled Orientation (go to the calendar for dates) or a Launch Your Business Workshop (held on the first Wednesday of every month). Call 415-541-8580 to reserve your spot.
Scholarships and Payment Plans. A limited number of partial scholarships are available based on income and personal need. Those who apply for a scholarship must include income verification in the form of tax returns, check stubs or an SBA Personal Financial Statement.
